The aim of the Later Life Psychiatry Service is to provide assessment and management of mental illness for those over the age of 65 years and also for those who are concerned about memory loss.

We provide both outpatient assessment and treatment in addition to inpatient service.  The service is provided by two Consultants in Psychiatry of Old Age along with a Multidisciplinary Team including; clinical psychology, occupational therapy, social work, nursing and pharmacy.

Management of mood disorders, psychosis and anxiety along with other forms of mental illness is provided. We offer a diagnostic service for memory problems.

The approach is recovery focused and individually tailored. The inpatient service has a variety of therapeutic groups and activities in addition to individual programmes.

Our Service for Later Life Psychiatry will continue to develop and grow taking on the needs of our service users. The goals of the service are to facilitate and promote wellness, recovery and functional independence, along with an awareness of key life skills necessary to sustain good mental health.

What it costs : If you have private health insurance, it will cover your treatment, depending of course on your cover (call us to check). If you don’t have private health insurance, you will be asked to pay a deposit on admission and regular payments thereafter
